Alumina Ceramic Metering Pump Core Components for Pharmaceutical and Chemical Dosing

Place of Origin:Guangdong, China

Product Material:High-purity alumina ceramic (Al₂O₃ ≥99.6%). Monolithic alumina is used for pump liners and valve seats. For reciprocating plungers, piston rods, or components requiring higher impact resistance, zirconia-toughened alumina (ZTA) can be used to improve toughness. Explore our alumina ceramic components.

Functional Features:These ceramic metering pump components provide high hardness, wear resistance, chemical stability, low contamination, smooth sliding surfaces, and precise mating clearances. Available parts include ceramic plungers, sleeves, pistons, pump cylinders, and valve seats. View more ceramic pump components.

Application Fields:Precision chemical dosing; semiconductor wet-process equipment; pharmaceutical and laboratory fluid handling; water-treatment dosing systems; industrial dispensing equipment; battery electrolyte preparation; corrosive-fluid metering systems.

Global OEM Supply:Serving OEM customers in the USA, Germany, Japan, and Europe.

Delivery Period:Standard plunger/sleeve components: 40–65 days,Complex integrated valve bodies, ultra-thin diaphragms, or matched component sets: 70–120 days

Description

Alumina ceramic metering pump core components include precision-matched plungers, sleeves, pistons, cylinders, and valve seats made from high-purity alumina or ZTA. They are designed for pharmaceutical filling and chemical dosing systems handling corrosive, abrasive, or contamination-sensitive fluids. Their hard, chemically stable working surfaces help reduce wear, internal leakage, and metal-ion contamination while supporting accurate, repeatable fluid delivery over long operating cycles.

Material System

High-purity alumina with an Al₂O₃ content of at least 99.6% is the standard material for most fluid-contact components. For processes with stricter purity requirements, 99.7%–99.9% alumina is also available. ZTA may be used for moving parts that need greater toughness or better resistance to impact and side loads.

More information about available grades can be found in our alumina ceramic components section.

Application Scenarios

  • Accurate dosing of acids, alkalis, solvents, and specialty chemicals
  • High-purity chemical and CMP slurry transfer in semiconductor wet-process equipment
  • Filling of reagents, buffer solutions, and process liquids in pharmaceutical equipment
  • Small-volume liquid handling in laboratory and diagnostic instruments
  • Controlled addition of disinfectants, flocculants, and pH-adjusting agents in water treatment
  • Electrolyte preparation, transfer, and filling in battery production
  • Metering and dispensing of coatings, adhesives, and other industrial fluids

Core Advantages

  • Matched working surfaces: Mating components can be ground and lapped together to achieve the required operating clearance.
  • Stable fluid control: Accurate geometry helps limit internal leakage and supports repeatable dosing.
  • Long service life: Hard ceramic surfaces withstand continuous sliding and abrasive media better than many metal alternatives.
  • Cleaner fluid contact: High-purity ceramic surfaces help avoid contamination caused by metal corrosion.
  • Consistent replacement parts: Critical dimensions and inspection results can be recorded for repeat production.
  • Made to customer drawings: Material, tolerances, surface finish, and mating relationships are reviewed as part of the complete assembly.

Material Comparison

Material Main Characteristics Best Used When
High-Purity Alumina Hard, wear-resistant, chemically stable, and cost-effective A reliable choice for most metering-pump core components
ZTA Combines alumina wear resistance with improved toughness Moving parts are exposed to moderate impact or side loading
Zirconia Higher toughness and resistance to cracking Mechanical loading is more important than material cost
Silicon Carbide Excellent resistance to severe wear, corrosion, and thermal shock The pump handles demanding chemicals or operates under harsh conditions

FAQ

1. Are these individual parts or a matched component set?

Both options are available. We can manufacture an individual replacement component or produce several mating parts as a matched set, depending on the pump design.

2. Can ceramic parts replace the existing metal components in our pump?

In many cases, yes, but the change should be reviewed first. Ceramic and metal behave differently, so the wall thickness, mounting method, mating clearance, and areas of mechanical stress may need adjustment.

3. How do you determine the correct piston-to-sleeve clearance?

We consider the component diameter, fluid viscosity, operating pressure, temperature, acceptable leakage, and required dosing performance before confirming the clearance.

4. Are the components suitable for CIP or SIP cleaning?

High-purity alumina is suitable for many cleaning processes. Please provide the cleaning chemical, concentration, temperature, pressure, and cycle time so that compatibility can be checked.

5. What inspection documents are available?

Inspection reports can cover critical dimensions, surface finish, roundness, cylindricity, and other drawing requirements. Material information can also be supplied when agreed during quotation.

6. Do you supply alumina ceramic metering pump components to international OEM customers?

Yes. CERAMPRO supports OEM customers in the USA, Germany, Japan, and other European markets, providing drawing review, prototype production, dimensional inspection, export packaging, and international delivery.

7. What information do you need for a quotation?

Please send the 2D or 3D drawings, assembly details, operating fluid, pressure, temperature, required service life, inspection standard, and estimated order quantity. This allows us to review the project and provide a practical quotation.
